Tumbling begins on Thursday, September 6

We are adding back tumbling on Thursdays from 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm for $5 (pay the teacher as you attend). Our new teacher is Mrs. Meredith Roberts. Mrs. Meredith was a former University of Tennessee Knoxville Cheerleader. This class is not mandatory but we like to offer it so that we can add tumbling into our dances.

Received compliments on the SpitFires from the younger team Mothers for helping their children during Thursday conditioning.  Thank you students for always be kind to each other and to the younger team members.  You are all truly a special team!

Update on Deposits

Please make sure you have paid your team fee and costume deposits as soon as possible.  We ask that $200 costume deposit be made and the $125 team fee before September 1.  The $200 deposit per students covers the $100 line dance costume (both lines are getting made now) and the $100 large group deposit.  If you have been selected for a small group, please go ahead and pay that $100 deposit as soon as you can swing it.

Vegas and Greenville Information

We called today to make our reservations for Vegas.  If you tell them you have more than 2 people in your room, they charge you $30 - $35 more per day.  We decided that we just had 2 people in our room!  When you call be prepared to pay the first night plus tax which is $128.  It is refundable if you cancel wthin 48 hours of your arrival date.  The number to call for reservations is 1-800-627-6667

We have made our February  reservations for Greenville, SC as well.  They do sell out and they do overbook so be prepared to make your reservation soon and arrive early in the day on Friday to get the type of room that you want (double bed vs King).  number to call is 1-800-891-3797 for Greenville Hyatt reservations. 

Neither trip is mandatory.  The students really enjoyed the workshops and watching the competition last year.  It was a great experience.  Cost of the workshop has gone up to $210 per student this year.  We will need to start collecting the money soon and send it in  to make sure the students that are interested get to participate.

Lola Deposit as soon as possible

sorry to hit you all up with so many deposits in this first month.  We are so lucky to have our designer/seamstress to make our custom stuff and she is very dependable so we like to stay on her time requirements.  We will need the $100 Lola deposit as soon as possible.  I told her I would let her take it out of my account next Wednesday.  Thanks so much for always being so great!

Let's Get Started!

I know we are early this year but I would like to get us started on our Saturday schedule beginning on Saturday, August 25. The Saturday schedule is posted on the website under the 2012-2013 link at the top of the home page.


We will begin working on parts of the line dance on Saturday. I only need the SpitFires for the 11 and under line this Saturday and I will contact a few people to start the beginning of the 12 and over line dance.


Please attend your company workshops with Alex every Saturday unless told otherwise. Small groups have been contacted and notified of your practice schedules and should attend Thursday or Saturday Rehearsals this week. Graduating Senior small group will begin a little later due to their busy schedules.

Music Requirements This Year

The SpitFires, ThunderBoltz and BombShells will be dancing to the greatest version of Proud Mary!  Thanks so much to our music producer for always creating amazing music for our students!  We would like for everyone to get a small cd holder to carry all their music to all competitions.   We will be burning everyone a copy of each song as the songs become finalized. 

Lola!

The SpitFires large group will be dancing to Whatever Lola Wants!  The seamstress has our design ready and is ready to order their fabrics.  We will get their measurements on Monday.  We will need another $100 deposit for the seamstress to order fabrics for this costume.  I think we said we would need the $200 costume deposit upfront.  We knew that would cover the large group and line dance costume deposits.  Some of you will be in a small group as well.  We will be announcing those soon and may need another $100 deposit quickly to get those started as well.  Thanks so much!

Viva Las Vegas!

Just want to make sure everyone understands that the Vegas trip is not mandatory or expected at all. We have a few that are very interested in going and continuing with their workshop studies, but no one should feel any pressure to go. Gatlinburg will be our nationals trip. Vegas is just for educational purposes. Thanks so much!

Locking Down Blog

We are going to experiment with lock down the blog with the SpitFires blog.  If you have not emailed us your email address, please do so as soon as possible.  You will have to be logged into your email account on the device that you are trying to view the blog from.  We will try it and see how it goes.  I will alert you via email when we are going to test.  Our email addres is thelegacydance@gmail.com

Wow!  What an amazing group of dancers!  So excited about this team for the upcoming year!

Saturday, August 18 is team picture day!  Your scheduled time is 12:30 - 2:00 pm.  Please try to come for your team pictures and headshots.  We will be using these pictures for newspaper articles and your headshots will be in the recital annuals.  It's always good to have a up to date headshot. 

Also, please pay your $125 team fee, $100 costume deposit this week to be in the line dance. We have to send our money to the seamstress this week. Anyone not paying this week will not be able to participate in this dance. Sorry, we have a strict deadline to meet to work with this seamstress. Thanks so much!
